I was born in a country that doesn’t exist anymore
…which means I know what life with no currency looks like, but also we can talk about 70s music and share nostalgia for cassette players, floppy disks and Windows 2-3.1.
I studied fine arts to later top it up with product service systems design
…having devoured comparative theory of civilisations together with mastering the art of making service blueprints, my brain is now permanently confused and can shape-shift from skeptical to wildly optimistic in a split second. I respect well-constructed simplicity yet feel most comfortable with (and design for) complexity. I love the space at the intersection of art and design, and very often analyse it and write about it.
I operate in English whilst my heart hums in Italian
…after having spent 5 years in the land of great coffee and even greater history, I’ve been working across design agencies and clients in the UK for over a decade. Luckily traveling is a part of my monthly routine, mostly in the shape of field trips or client workshops. I inevitably bring back stories and help clients in the travel sector (such as Virgin and British Airways).
I believe in most time spent on searching for the right question
…and about 20% on the answer. I encourage my teams to spend time researching, procrastinating, digging, practicing their digital forensics skills, visiting locations, etc. as well as diving into the wider landscape of politics, history and knowledge we must keep and grow in order to create culturally relevant solutions.
I make things and make things happen
…at Cosmic Velocity, a London-based inclusive service design agency I co-founded with Olena and Stephen. We partner with people, train teams and design meaningful [digital] things. Our mission is making the world more inclusive by design.
I care, therefore I design
I deeply care about mental health, so we made this resource to help people. I keep working on making products and services better for everyone, in various ways:
watch this diversity & inclusion talk where I describe the journey we’re on
use our diverse image library to make your content more in tune with the world around you
see what you think about this guide to dyslexia I’ve put together
let me know what you think of Bookversal (a platform for kids’ books with diverse representation)
see the latest game-based workshop I’ve developed for UXLondon2022, enabling research and design practitioners to create more inclusive research methods
I think of design as the greatest excuse for constant active learning
…and very few things can compare. Working with large and small businesses from various industries has taught me things I never thought I’d know: from facts about UK seabed reality to ways in which people manage their finances. I keep getting surprised and being grateful for that, daily.
I try my hardest to enable people to do their best work
…even if there’s seemingly no time, I mentor, teach and share everywhere I can. When my calendar becomes an unsolvable jigsaw, because I have a tiny human being to raise too, I just have coffees and conversations. If you’d like to talk to me I’m here.
